Police have charged a woman following the seizure of firearms and explosives linked to a serious organised crime group.
Broadmeadows police located a stolen vehicle with cloned number plates inside a Campbellfield factory after executing a warrant on August 15.
Police found allegedly found seven firearms, including high-powered rifles, shotguns, handguns, and a loaded automatic rifle, as well as explosives, chemicals and equipment inside the stolen vehicle.
Police said the quantity of explosives had the potential to demolish a building.
Further raids were carried out on September 23 at Doreen and Dandenong, where mobile phones, cash and number plates were seized.
A 32-year-old Dandenong woman was arrested and charged with multiple firearm, explosives and theft offences and is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 24.
Detective Inspector Graham Banks said the seizures highlighted the dangerous scale of organised crime activity.
“These are items that could have wreaked immense destruction in our community and resulted in the deaths of large numbers of people,” he said.
Police allege the woman was storing and transporting the weapons on behalf of a crime syndicate with offshore links.
