More than 60 firefighters are battling a blaze at a nut processing factory in Campbellfield.
Crews were called to the Barry Road factory this afternoon.
The building contains gas cylinders, which could exacerbate the fire, according to the MFB.
Ten people where inside the two-storey factory when the fire started, but managed to escape unharmed.
A watch and act warning has been issued for the area, urging nearby residents to stay indoors.
People living in Campbellfield, Lalor and Thomastown are being urged to close all exterior doors and windows, turn off heating and cooling systems, and close fireplaces and vents.
Barry Road has been closed at Lara Way.
MFB firefighters are currently battling a factory fire on Barry Road in #Campbellfield. There is a lot of smoke in the area and community are advised to avoid the area and ensure the roads are kept clear for emergency services.
