Book lovers can feed their curiosity at libraries across Whittlesea over the next couple of weeks.
Yarra Plenty Regional Library, which runs Whittlesea’s four libraries, is hosting its annual Booklovers Festival from Friday until September 16, featuring author talks, workshops and book swaps.
A writers’ day will be held at Mill Park library on Saturday, September 8, featuring authors Steven Amsterdam, Justine Hyde, Kate O’Donnell and Emma Viskic. The workshop will cover getting started on your book, pitching, crime writing and writing for children.
Lalor library will celebrate all things Italian on Saturday, September 15 with its Italian stories and culture day. The event will include a cooking demonstration, a preserving workshop and presentations from blogger and cookbook author Julia Busuttil Nishimura and storyteller Moreno Giovannoni (pictured).
YPRL chief executive Jane Cowell said the festival aimed to encourage community members to embrace their creativity and self-expression.
“There is nothing quite like this festival in our region aimed at adults. It is unique in that it focuses on reading, writing and ideas and is also free and accessible to all,” she said.
