Applications are now open for the second phase of the Family Violence Research Program 2021-2024 for family violence research to support evidence-based improvements and innovation in prevention of and response to family violence and sexual assault.
Academic and sector partners can access part of the $1.2 million state government investment, in addition to the first phase of the Family Violence Research Grants Program which provided $2.5 million to 13 universities and family violence sector agencies in 2022.
Research findings will be used to help support the Labor Government’s $3.7 billion family violence reforms.
Prevention of Family Violence Minister Ros Spence said the work will change the way services are provided to Victorians.
“This work will deliver evidence that supports family violence reform,” she said.
“This ongoing work addresses gaps in existing research while including the voices of people with lived experience.”
Research has identified seven priority areas where evidence gaps exist including children and young people as victims, family violence as experienced by people from diverse communities and sexual violence and harm.
Harnessing and embedding lived experience, from design to delivery, is a key feature of the second phase.
Applicants are required to demonstrate how they will incorporate lived experience in their proposed research projects.
Applications close on Monday, April 3.
