Trevor Lambert’s family is getting behind his fight with cancer and trying to make sure others don’t go through the same battle.
Trevor, known as Bluey, is fighting brain cancer a second time round, having had a tumor removed once before.
His friends and family have signed up with Walk4BrainCancer to help raise funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Trevor’s 16-year-old son Billy has already started raking up the kilometres, and the fundraising, for the walk.
Billy has raised more than $5000 and is aiming to walk 50 kilometres throughout the month.
The fundraiser culminates with a virtual event on September 27, by which time the Bluey’s crew hopes to have collectively walked 2000 kilometres and raised more than $25,000.
“My grandmother [Pam Rycroft] and brother [Lochie Robinson] thought it was a good idea,” Billy said.
“So we all got around it. We started off with 20 people and more people are joining.
“It’s lovely to have the support around dad and it will help others.”
Billy said he was trying to walk around the local oval as much as he can. His dad has joined him on some walks.
“He’s really proud of us … on Father’s Day he broke down as we’re not only supporting him, but others as well.”
