A hot and slow commute is predicted for passengers travelling on the Seymour, Shepparton, Bendigo and Echuca lines on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

With temperatures expected to get into the high 30s, the full extreme heat timetable will be in place for the Seymour and Shepparton line services on Tuesday and a partial extreme heat timetable for Wednesday.

The partial timetable will mean trains will most likely slow down only to the north of Seymour.

Bendigo and Echuca lines will also run on a partial extreme heat timetable on Tuesday and Wednesday, with trains anticipated to slow down after Castlemaine.

Coaches are currently replacing trains for works on the Swan Hill services until Sunday, February 27, and Albury trains for the entire journey until Wednesday, February 16.

In a statement, V/Line encouraged passengers to wear cool clothing, carry bottled water with them, allow extra travel time, and said there would be drinking water on board trains.

“Passengers are urged to check the V/Line website and view a copy of the extreme heat timetable or ask for a copy from their nearest staffed station before travelling,” the statement said.
