Epping CFA ready for open day

Epping Fire Brigade is opening its doors to the public for its biggest community event of the year.

The CFA brigade will have its open day on October 27 which will have plenty of entertainment for everyone.

Crew leader Lisa Compton-Robins said they love getting the public down to the station.

“It’s easily our biggest event of the year,” she said. “We normally get about 1600 people come through the station.

“The main idea of it is to raise some money for the brigade while raising awareness of home safety and what we do.”

Ms Compton-Robins said they had been running the open day for a number of years.

She said they visited a number of schools in the lead up to try and get more families down.

There will be children’s activities, live rescue demonstrations, jumping castles, a sausage sizzle and Captain Koala.

There’s one thing that is always the crowd favourite.

“There’s something about kids and fire trucks,” Ms Compton-Robins said.

Ms Compton-Robins said for the brigade many people come up and thank them on these days which is something they really appreciate and reinforces why they volunteer.

The open day is at Epping Fire Brigade on October 27 from 10am-2pm.
