Employment and Business Opportunities Arriving in Campbellfield

Work on a new logistics estate in Campbellfield has stated.

The North Melbourne Logistics Estate will be built over nine hectares in Campbellfield to boost local jobs and the economy.

The estate, built on Somerton Road, will provide business spaces with direct access to major arterial routes, including the Hume Freeway, Metropolitan Ring Road and the Somerton Inland Freight Terminal.

Joining Developer Cabot Properties and Building firm Qanstruct, Hume mayor Naim Kurt said that Cabot’s decision to bring this estate Hume is a big win for our city thanks to the staggering $130m it will inject into our local economy.

“At Hume council we are all about job creation and getting locals employed that’s why we’re thrilled this development meets those objectives by bringing 140 construction jobs and 230 ongoing jobs to for our Hume community,” he said.

“These are exciting developments for our community and it speaks to the attractive position our municipality holds for investors in being located close to freight terminals, to the airport and to key arterial roads and highways.

Hume council’s local jobs for local people program will support the procurement of on-site jobs that will likely last for 12 months.

Cr Kurt believes this trend of significant logistic developments will continue, given the city’s strategic location.

“Hume City Council has been proud of its role in providing extensive support and services to the North Melbourne Logistics Estate project, from guiding investment opportunities and managing planning approvals, through to offering to engage local employment.

“We know that Cabot Properties has expressed that they will continue to seek opportunities in Hume thanks to this level of support, and we will continue to advocate for further investment on behalf of our residents.”
