If you woke up in the middle of the night feeling a bit shaky, you weren’t imagining things. A 2.2 magnitude earthquake hit Melbourne’s north at 4.29am.

The earthquake hit with an epicentre near Roxburgh Park, but was also felt throughout Meadow Heights and Craigieburn, with 43 residents reporting that they felt the impact.

According to Geoscience Australia, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, meaning it was fairly shallow.

The SES received no reports of damage in the affected areas.

Local residents were quick to head to social media to report their experiences.

“I felt it! My window shook and I heard a roar,” said Yako Raiea Alan.

Others mentioned that they felt something minor but were woken up, with another joking it was a small affair compared to their husbands snoring.

Geoscience Australia urges you to report if you felt the earthquake.
