Drivers are being urged to take more care on roads around Whittlesea and Hume, following a spate of accidents over the past 10 days, including a fatality.
Between May 20-27, Epping CFA’s road rescue crew were called to five incidents, including three extractions and a fatality following a head-on collision on High Street, Epping.
Captain Rob Saitta said the other incidents occurred on Epping Road and Bridge Inn Road, Wollert.
Epping CFA posted a video to Facebook page last Friday night to warn drivers to take more care on the road.
In the video, which was filmed following the brigade’s latest rescue, Lieutenant Rohan Stevens asks motorists to drive safely.
“Stay safe, drive safe and be aware of your surroundings,” he said.
Aitken Boulevard blitz
Meanwhile, Hume police have vowed to continue their presence on Aitken Boulevard, Craigieburn, following a crash in the early hours of May 28, which left the occupants of two cars in hospital with serious injuries.
Police have put the community on notice, warning that speed cameras will soon be activated at various points along the road in a bid to deter speeding drivers,
Police from Fawkner Highway Patrol upped their patrols on the road earlier this month amid increasing community concerns about drivers ignoring the road’s speed limit.
The road, which has a single lane in each direction, was only completed in March and has a speed limit of 60 km/h.
