DPV Health notches up 100,000 vaccinations

DPV Health has 100,000 reasons to celebrate.

The health service reached the 100,000 COVID-19 vaccination milestone on Friday, March 11.

DPV Health has operated three vaccination hubs and over 100 pop-up locations throughout the pandemic.

It has collaborated with Hume council to provide vaccinations at convenient locations, including at the municipality’s aquatic and leisure centres.

Other vaccination clinics have included local community hubs, shopping centres, schools or leisure centres.

To thank local residents for their contribution to this milestone DPV Health is welcoming the community to join it in the celebrations on Sunday, March 13 at Town Hall Broadmeadows, at 10 Dimboola Road, Broadmeadows.

On offer will be a free barbeque, face painting, balloon twister and a goodie bag giveaway. The celebrations will run from noon until 3pm.

Vaccinations and boosters will also be available for all people over the age of five. No appointment required, walk ups are encouraged.

DPV Health chief executive Don Tidbury said the milestone was a reflection of the vaccination team’s monumental efforts.

“DPV Health has worked tirelessly to keep our community safe throughout the pandemic, vaccinating people seven days per week through multiple locations across Melbourne’s north.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone in our community who has stepped up to get vaccinated”

DPV Health primary care general manager Kylie Rhook said: “This milestone is an outcome of the extensive collaboration with state government, local government, community organisations, community leaders, and the wider community.

“Customising the vaccination program to have vaccination hubs at convenient locations, supported by community engagement and tailored communications, gives the community the best opportunity to access vaccinations.”

Hume mayor Carly Moore said: “To reach the 100,000 dose milestone is incredibly thrilling and testament to the incredible and invaluable work that DPV Health is doing to protect our community from the ongoing risks of COVID-19.”

“DPV Health has done an outstanding job in setting up vaccination clinics across Hume City – whether it be in our community hubs, shopping centres, schools or leisure centres the team has proudly risen to the challenge to provide local vaccine access for our residents.

“Every additional dose makes a huge difference in our fight against COVID-19 and it is encouraging that more than 90,000 Hume locals aged 16 and over have already boosted their protection and received their third dose.”.
