New designs for stage 2 of the Yan Yean Road upgrade have been revealed with a focus on improving access to the Doreen Commercial Precinct following community feedback.

The re-design includes the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Yan Yean Road and Activity Way, as well as retaining existing access to businesses on the corner of Yan Yean and Bridge Inn roads.

The upgrade will also feature new dedicated turning lanes, on-street parking, two new bus stops, and a signalised pedestrian crossing to improve safety and public transport access.

MRPV program director Brendan Pauwels said the redefined plan balances road efficiency with community needs.

“Installing traffic lights at the intersection of Yan Yean Road and Activity Way and retaining the existing entrance to businesses on the corner of the intersection will give residents and business owners even greater access to this area,” he said.

“We have worked with the local community and made the necessary adjustments to ensure this project benefits everyone.”

Business precinct representative Tony Casey welcomed the changes.

“We’ve had constructive discussions with MRPV, and based on the updated road design, which provides entry and exit to the Doreen Commercial Precinct, we’ve been able to collaborate effectively to achieve the best possible outcome for both the business community and the road upgrade,” he said.

Construction on the upgrade is expected to commence in late 2025.
