Motorists in Melbourne’s outer-north are warned of extended journey times over the next month, as Donnybrook Road, Yan Yean closes for important bridge reconstruction and strengthening works.
Closures will be in place between Epping and Plenty roads from 4am Monday, March 6 to 6pm Thursday, April 6.
Drivers should allow up to 20 minutes extra for the detours via Epping Road, Bridge Inn Road and Plenty Road.
Access will be maintained for local traffic, businesses, emergency services and deliveries on either side of the works area, but no traffic will be able to cross the bridge over Barbers Creek during this closure. Access to the Growling Frog Golf Course will be available via the Plenty Road intersection.
During this time, crews will demolish and reconstruct the bridge deck, strengthen the steel bridge beams to support heavier vehicles, and resurface the bridge and the approaches in both directions.
A temporary 60km/h speed limit was introduced in 2022 and once the project is complete, the speed limit over the bridge will be returned to 100km/h.
