Sections of Donnybrook Road, Woodstock, will be closed in both directions until Sunday, October 2 2022.
Drivers should allow for extra time when travelling in the area as a two way detour is in place west of the Merriang/Epping Road roundabout.
Commuters are advised to follow traffic control instructions and detour signage.
As part of the Structures Rehabilitation Package from Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV), the closure will allow for essential maintenance work in replacing the Donnybrook Road bridge to extend its lifespan.
During the closure, additional traffic control measures will be allocated during peak hour times, allowing easy access to the Hume Freeway.
Residents are advised they may experience noise, vibration and dust fallout from as works are underway, but MRPV has advised it will be monitoring levels to ensure minimal disruption.
Further disruptions are expected later in the year as works continue to complete asphalting, line-marking and signage installation.
