Dog attack in Jacana

Kevy sadly died after being attacked by two other dogs whilst out on a walk with his owner (Supplied).

Police are investigating a dog attack in Jacana on Thursday, May 19.

Investigators have been told a man was walking his dog along the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, when two off-leash dogs approached him about 5.45pm.

The two dogs attacked the victim and his dog, ‘Kevy’, who died as a result of its injuries.

Kevy’s owner, a 30-year-old man, sustained injuries to his leg and upper body which required stitches, along with scratches and bruises.

The two attacking dogs were described as medium build and stocky, possibly pit bulls, one was black and the other brown and white.

The man who was with the dogs was described as being Middle Eastern in appearance with a medium build, approximately 175cm tall, aged in his late 30s, with short dark hair wearing a brown jacket.

The victim has told police the owner of the two dogs attempted to hit the animals with a stick to stop them from attacking before he fled the scene without assisting Kevy and his owner.

Images of ‘Kevy’ and the stick which was left at the scene have been released by police.
