Northern Diwali, Festival of Lights, will be back in person next week for the first time in two years.

Previously curtailed by COVID-19 and moved online, organisers say everyone they’ve spoken to are beyond excited for the event on Sunday, October 16.

Attendees can expect an abundance of activities, including henna tattooing, amusement rides, traditional food, live music, a fireworks display, Bollywood dancing and much more on the day.

The event will be at 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang.

Attendance to Northern Diwali is free, but registration is required.

Event co-ordinator Nishtha Goel said she expects thousands to turn up on the day.

“The community is very excited and we get so many calls every day,” Ms Goel said.

Diwali is one of the biggest festivals on the Hindu calendar and celebrates the victory of good over evil.

The event is a chance for family and friends to exchange gifts, join together and hope for an auspicious year ahead.
