A Craigieburn man has been caught in a whirlwind of excitement, enduring two sleepless nights as he revels in the reality of his $1.2 million TattsLotto win in the weekend’s draw.

He was one of four division one winning entries nationally for the Saturday, October 12 with each winner taking away $1,290,825.58.

So far in 2024, there have been 31 major lottery wins in Melbourne’s north region, which have collectively taken home more than $38.76 million in prize money.

The cheerful man, who is nearing retirement age, shared he couldn’t wait to use his prize to quit his job and enjoy life to the fullest, while also helping out family members.

His winning entry was purchased at Craigieburn Lotto on Craigieburn Road.

The gleeful man said he couldn’t help but pinch himself, yet was fearful he’d ‘wake up and discover it was all just a dream’.

“I’m on cloud nine. I can’t believe it!” he exclaimed. “I feel like I’m trying to wake up from a dream – so surreal.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for 20 years. They consist of birthdates and anniversary dates. I can’t believe they’ve finally come up!

“I checked the ticket on Saturday night, and I was in complete shock. I haven’t had any sleep for two whole nights but it’s a good feeling.

“Family is our priority, and we’ll be helping them out with this prize. I’m not too far off retirement, so this will be a great boost too. It will allow us to sit back and live the life we want.

“We will squeeze in a fun holiday too.”

Craigieburn Lotto manager Rose Irgat said the winning moment felt electrifying as she couldn’t believe she had helped change someone’s life.

“It’s nice knowing $1.2 million has gone to someone in our community, and we were a part of their dream coming true,” she joyfully exclaimed.

“It feels absolutely amazing and electrifying. We often see familiar faces come through, all beaming with hope, and it’s very likely our winner was one of them.

“We treat all our customers like family, and we’re just so happy to have sold another division one winning entry. I usually despise Mondays, but today I’m feeling on cloud nine.”
