Craigieburn, Doreen like to shop

Craigieburn and Doreen shoppers continue to spend big online, according to Australia Post figures.

With shops remaining closed during September due to COVID-19 restrictions, it was no surprise that Victorian postcodes made up eight of the 10 postcodes with the highest volume of deliveries for the month.

The top five were all Melbourne postcodes.

The 3064 postcode, which includes Craigieburn, came in at number four, after being the third highest location for volume the previous month.

Shoppers in that postcode have shopped big throughout most of the pandemic, having been ranked 10th back in April.

Doreen, which entered the top five last month for the first time, remains in fifth spot.

Wyndham residents remain the biggest online shoppers. Point Cook is steady at number one, with Hoppers Crossing also in the top five.

Australia Post general manager of parcel and express services Ben Franzi, said online shopping remained high across the country.

“Victoria retains the title of Australia’s online shopping capital, with over a third (36 per cent) of the country’s total online purchase volume last month.

“For the four months from March to June – prior to the reimplementation of lockdowns in Victoria – five Victorian postcodes were among the top 10 online shopping locations nationally; fast forward to September, and Victorian postcodes now hold eight of those spots.
