Coolaroo man charged over alleged firearms incident

A Coolaroo man has been charged over an alleged firearms incident in Bundoora earlier this month.

Echo Taskforce detectives arrested the 37-year-old on Thursday following a search of a home in Norval Crescent, Coolaroo.

The man was interviewed by detectives and has been charged with attempted aggravated burglary, attempted armed robbery, prohibited possession of a firearm, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault, possession of a drug of dependence, handling stolen goods, and dealing with property suspected proceeds of crime.

The charges follow an incident in Grimshaw Street, Bundoora about 11.20am on Wednesday, April 7.

Police allege two men approached a 38-year-old man outside the property and produced a firearm before making demands for property.

A struggle followed before a number of shots were allegedly fired.

The 38-year-old man sustained minor injuries.

No one else was injured during the incident.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at a clubhouse in Port Melbourne later that day.

The man was charged with seven offences, and was remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 30.
