Concerns Mickleham Road dam may burst

There are concerns a private dam on Mickleham Road may burst, with the road currently closed between Greenvale and Craigieburn.

The Department of Transport’s Chris Miller told radio station 3AW that SES, police and department crews were on the scene.

He said the “significant-seized dam” was on the boundary of Mickleham Road and was likely impact the road and nearby houses if it burst.

“The concern is that the bank will actually burst and obviously, if that gives way, huge amounts of water will come out,” he said.

Motorists are advised to use Aitken Boulevard or Oaklands Road instead.

More to come.
