A Kalkallo family has been shaken by a house fire that claimed almost everything but their lives.

The family’s home caught fire earlier this month, with flames engulfing the entire property.

Mum Lisa Taylor described the blaze as “really scary”.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that before,” she said.

“We’re all okay, just in shock.

“After all the emergency lights of all the police, ambulance and CFA vehicles were there, I was realising how lucky we were.”

Ms Taylor’s daughter, Georgia, works at Craigieburn’s Newbury Primary School while completing her teaching degree.

Staff at the school started a GoFundMe page to help the family raise funds to rebuild the house.

The page has now raised over $15,000.

Ms Taylor said the support she and her family has received after the fire was “overwhelming”.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for the outpouring of community support,” she said.

“I don’t know how to repay or thank everyone.

“I could not believe the generosity of the community.

“Positives always come out of a negative.

“It makes the process a little easier to deal with, when there is that support.”
