Clubhouse at heart of community

A $5 million clubhouse and wellness precinct at Wollert’s Sherwin Rise retirement village will become the solar-powered “heart” of the community, according to developers.

The clubhouse will be connected to a private, large-scale interconnected community solar system.

This will mean on sunny days, the system can generate enough power to cater for the needs of the entire retirement community, developer Lendlease said.

Lendlease retirement living managing director Nathan Cockerill said the precinct was an exciting development.

A sod turning and smoking ceremony were held earlier this month to mark the start of construction.

“We’re excited to be kicking off construction on this new clubhouse and wellness precinct that will become the heart of the Sherwin Rise retirement community,” he said.

“This precinct has been designed to be sustainable, while supporting residents’ lifestyle needs.

“The new clubhouse will feel like an extension of residents’ homes, allowing them to connect socially and enhance their health and wellbeing in a luxurious setting.”

The centre will feature an indoor swimming pool and spa, gym, bar, cafe, cinema, games room, library, outdoor covered barbecue with alfresco patio, and lawn bowls court.

A wellbeing co-ordinator will also be joining the village management team to promote independence and wellness for residents.

The clubhouse is expected to be completed in mid-2022.
