Christmas lights up Doreen

A Doreen street has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland.

Wes has decorated his Brookwood Avenue house with Christmas lights for the past 10 years and says every year his display gets bigger and better.

The lights were switched on on Tuesday last week, and will remain lit up at night until Christmas Day.

It took Wes three weeks to erect this year’s colourful light show.

On Friday and Saturday nights, a barbecue will be set up alongside a coffee cart and an ice-cream van.

All proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish charity, which grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

Each year, Wes and his neighbours try to outdo each other’s decorating skills.

“It’s not really a competition,” he says, before adding, “but it is.”

Houses will also be lit up with Christmas lights on Angus Way and Coulthard Crescent at Doreen and on Annadale Drive, Mernda.
