Charges following alleged Campbellfield hoon meet

Two men have been charged following an alleged illegal hoon driving event in Campbellfield last month.

The charges are part of the statewide Operation Achilles, which was launched in February and targets hooning and other instances of intentional high risk driving.

The charges follow an alleged event in Campbellfield on Tuesday, June 8 where a group of spectators watched on as cars performed burnouts on the road.

Police executed two search warrants yesterday at different addresses in Thomastown and arrested two males.

A 20-year-old man was charged with reckless conduct endangering persons, careless driving, improper use of a motor vehicle, causing undue smoke and noise and driving offences.

A 19-year-old man was charged with reckless conduct endangering persons, incitement and statutory complicity.

Both men were bailed to appear at the Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on March 28, 2022.

The investigation into the alleged illegal hoon meet remains ongoing.
