Census snapshot: your average Whittlesea resident

New census data released on Tuesday, June 29, revealed just who your average Whittlesea resident is.

The average person is a 35-year-old female, who’s married, with one child.

She was born in Australia, has Australian ancestry, and both of her parents were born overseas.

The resident is Catholic, and the top language other than English spoken at his home is Arabic.

The most common long-term health conditions she suffers from are asthma, mental health issues, and arthritis.

She lives in a home with two others, has a median weekly household income of $1768 and median monthly mortgage repayment of $1900.

Population: 229,396, up by 16 per cent.

Religious affiliation: Catholic, 24.7 per cent, no religion, 24 per cent, Eastern Orthodox, 9.3 per cent, Islam, 9 per cent.

The top ancestries in Whittlesea included: Australian, 19.7 per cent, English, 17.6 per cent, Italian, 12.2 per cent, Indian, 7.9 per cent, and Macedonian, 6.1 per cent.

Language, other than English, used at home: Arabic, 5.2 per cent, Macedonian, 4.3 per cent, Punjabi, 4.3 per cent, Italian, 3.6 per cent and Greek, 3.1 per cent.
