A major review into bus service provided across Hume will take place over the next five weeks as the state government has now opened community consultation.

The plan intends to develop a modern, efficient, reliable and environmentally sustainable bus network, as Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll said he hopes future upgrades will encourage more people to travel by bus.

Consultation will run until Sunday, October 16 with face to face opportunities and an online survey, community members are encouraged to have their say on how their local network can be improved.

Part of the review will focus on providing more sustainable ways to deliver bus services.

Minister Carroll says the investment also seeks to “improve local bus services in growth areas, implement bus reform, improve accessibility and deliver better outcomes for passengers.”

Once complete, the data will be analysed on how commuters currently use their local bus services, from where they travel, to when, seeking to find what would encourage commuters to utilise buses more often.

This is included as part of the 2021 release of Victoria’s Bus Plan, outlining the state government’s intention to mould the bus network so commuters can feel more comfortable travelling by bus.
