Burn-off gone wrong in Mickleham

At 10.41am on September 26, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) were called to a fire caused by a burn-off on Mickleham Road, Mickleham.

FRV crews arrived on the scene to find that building waste had ignited on a shed. Eight trucks and two commanders worked to extinguish the fire, which was under control at 11.04AM.

CFA also had four units respond to the incident but left the responsibility to FRV.

One man was transported to hospital after sustaining burns to his hands and face. The crew remained at the scene for several hours and reported the incident to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

EPA urged locals to avoid the area if possible.
