Bundoora man charged with car theft

A 20-year-old Bundoora man has been charged following the alleged theft of a $250,000 Nissan GT-R on Wednesday, September 14.

Police said the car had recently arrived from overseas and the owner contacted police after noticing on the GPS tracking system that the car was heading through Nutfield.

Police said they spotted the stolen car being towed by a Ford Territory in Nutfield, tracking it through Hurstbridge.

The car was followed by the Air Wing as it crossed Main Hurstbridge Road, narrowly missing several cars and crashing into a property, according to police..

Police said the Bundoora man then fled on foot before being arrested.

He has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, reckless damage to emergency services vehicle, reckless conduct endangering life, unlicensed driving and dangerous driving.

He was remanded to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates Court on Thursday, September 15.
