Broadmeadows truck arson caught on video

Footage has emerged of the moment when five trucks were set on fire in Broadmeadows on Wednesday morning.

The closed circuit film reveals the trucks were set alight and were quickly engulfed in flames.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation.

The five semi-trailers were parked in Belfast Street, near the corner of Dallas Drive and set on fire about 3.20am.

Their front cabins were completely destroyed.

Leading Senior Constable Melissa Seach said police were still keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have seen any suspicious activity in the area.

A Brite Industries employee, who works in Belfast Street opposite where the trucks were parked, assumed the drivers all lived in the area.

“It’s an unusually wide street, I just thought they must all live nearby,” he said.

He said the trucks had been parked there for a few days.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
