Broadmeadows teen charged

Police have charged a Broadmeadows teenager following a series of alleged incidents earlier this week.

An allegedly stolen white Hyundai i30 approached a man on Orchard Road in Doreen about 7pm on July 29.

It is alleged the occupants of the car demanded his mobile phone and threatened him with a machete.

The 29-year-old man was not physically injured.

A short time later, the i30 pulled up outside a property on Tata Way.

It is alleged the occupants smashed the windows of the property, then fled in the vehicle.

There were no injuries.

The car was spotted by police within minutes on Plenty Road and pursued towards Whittlesea.

The Hyundai came to a stop on Ovens Circuit where it hit a street sign at low speed.

The four occupants ran from the car and an 18-year-old woman was arrested nearby.

A 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old woman returned to the scene a short time later where they were arrested.

The Hyundai was allegedly stolen from outside a property in Doreen on July 26.

Police are continuing to investigate whether the car was used in any other incidents.

The 16-year-old boy from the Broadmeadows area was charged with attempted armed robbery, criminal damage, theft of motor vehicle, evade police and driving offences.

He was remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

The 18-year-old Seymour woman and 20-year-old Reservoir woman were both released and are expected to be charged on summons.

Police believe one offender is outstanding and investigations are ongoing.
