A Broadmeadows school has been closed after two pupils tested positive to COVID-19.
Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton confirmed St Dominic’s Catholic Primary School was closed this morning for cleaning.
One of the pupils was at school on Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3, when they were likely infectious, the Department of Health and Human Services said.
“Testing will be undertaken for students and teachers who were at the school from 26 May to 3 June,” the department said in a statement.
“The school will conduct a deep clean of affected classrooms and common areas.”
Professor Sutton said the positive cases were linked to an outbreak across four households in Broadmeadows, Coburg and Pakenham.
He said 11 cases were now linked to the outbreak, which began in Coburg, and includes two pupils at Pakenham Springs Primary School.
“There are a number of children in those households and for that reason, two schools are now closed today,” Professor Sutton said.
DHHS said extensive contact tracing for members of the extended family was underway.
