Broadmeadows COVID cluster grows

A Broadmeadows COVID-19 cluster is causing concern among health officials.

Nine of today’s 79 new COVID-19 cases were linked to MyCentre in Broadmeadows, according to COVID Response Commander Jeroen Weimar.

There are now 94 cases associated with the childcare centre.

Mr Weimar said staff and children connected to the centre had tested positive, with the virus now “leaking out” to family and primary contact cohorts.

It comes as the Department of Health revealed just 19 of the new COVID cases announced today were in isolation for the entirety of their infectious period.

However, Health Minister Martin Foley said he “expected that number to grow over the course of the day”.
