The Hume community is being encouraged to tune into story times and fitness classes online over the coming weeks.

On Friday, the council launched its Hume Together initiative, which strives to find innovative ways to deliver services and programs while council-run centres are closed.

In a statement, the council said Hume Together would support the wellbeing of the community.

“Over the coming days, weeks and maybe even months, you’ll start seeing the colour yellow across many of services and the #HumeTogether across our social media channels,” the statement said.

“Yellow is the colour of optimism, happiness, energy and joy – which is what we’ve striving for with Hume Together.

“Join the conversation by using the #HumeTogether on social media and help us spread positivity and the wonderful things happening within our community.”

Hume Libraries will live stream story time today at 10am, while Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre will offer a free fitness class via Facebook Live at noon.

Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre will run a free yoga class via Facebook live at 4.15pm.
