CFA declare Fire Danger Period
The Fire Danger Period has begun in Hume and Whittlesea. As of Monday, January 9 residents are prohibited from lighting fires in the open air unless they have a permit. A permit is required for burning off grass, undergrowth, weeds, or any other vegetation. Lighting a fire in the open without a permit is an offence and can bring a penalty of over $21,800 and/or 12 months imprisonment.
Robodebt submissions close soon
The Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme is urging anyone who was impacted by the Robodebt scheme to share their story before submissions close in less than a month. The final day to make a submission is February 3. For anyone who is unable to use the online form, there are a number of other ways to make a submission, including via phone: 1800 317 022. Myths and Legends
Whittlesea council is looking for people from all cultures to showcase traditional myths and legends in a fun, creative way. Over a series of creative workshops, participants will explore creative ways of presenting stories, culminating in a performance at the March 2023 Community Festival.
