Bit of the ‘burb for charity

A Craigieburn photographer is offering up one of his photographs of Main Street, Craigieburn as a raffle prize to raise money for Red Nose Australia.

David Pleydell is holding the fundraiser for the organisation which helps to save infant lives through research and education, and support families affected by the death of a baby or child as a result of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Mr Pleydell said his role as a parent made Red Nose special to him.

“I feel blessed being a parent of two very healthy kids,” he said.

“I can’t imagine the pain some parents go through with the loss of their child from SIDS so wanted to do something to help.”

Mr Pleydell will be giving his photograph of Main Street, Craigieburn to the raffle winner.

“I posted a photo [of Craigieburn] to our local community Facebook page – Craigieburn Community – where it received around 800 interactions,” he said.

“I thought with so many likes, people would not mind buying a raffle ticket for the chance to win a bit of Craigieburn [and] the chance to have a bit of our ‘burb in their home.

“So far the response from the community has been positive, even in a limited way [due to COVID-19 lockdowns].”

Mr Pleydell said between the raffle and direct donations, he is hoping to raise $2000 for the charity.

“If this raffle goes well the plan is to have an ongoing contribution to Red Nose Australia,” he said.

The raffle is open until Friday, July 30, with the draw taking place Saturday, July 31.
