As the sun sets over the lush treetops of Plenty Gorge, a truly special evening will come to life at one of the region’s most breathtaking venues.
On Wednesday, May 7, from 5.30pm to 9pm, the award-winning Farm Vigano will host a joyful fundraising event in support of Big Group Hug, a charity based in Thomastown and Tarneit that provides vital support to children and families in crisis.
With its rustic charm, panoramic views, and warm hospitality, Farm Vigano is offering more than just a beautiful setting– donating its entire venue, gourmet food, and fine wines free of charge.
That means every single dollar raised on the night will go directly toward helping vulnerable families.
“Farm Vigano has been supporting us for a couple of years now,” explained Maria Quigley, Big Group Hug’s manager of fundraising and communications.
“It actually came through a friendship. Our chair Laura Rackey knows Bart Crescia and the team at Farm Vigano. She was telling them about the work we do, and they were so moved by the stories and the impact that they just wanted to help.”
That desire to give back has turned into a partnership grounded in community spirit and shared values.
“They realised how many families are doing it tough and saw this as a way they could make a real difference. It’s wonderful.”
Guests will enjoy a spread of seasonal dishes, hand-selected wines, and live entertainment, all in the tranquil surroundings of Farm Vigano’s historic estate, nestled against a peaceful nature reserve.
“It’s a really idyllic location – just stunning. We want the evening to be joyful and ambient, something people can enjoy with their loved ones,” Ms Quigley said.
“We’ll have speakers too, people who’ve received our help, case workers who have reached out to us in times of need, and members of our own team. It’s a rare chance to hear first-hand the impact that a small charity like ours can have.”
Big Group Hug has been operating for 11 years and has helps around 7,000 children each year, but as the cost of living continues to bite, the need for more help is growing.
“There are so many families doing it tough right now,” Ms Quigley said.
“This event is not only about raising funds, it’s about raising awareness, we want families who need help to know we’re here.”
