Police are making renewed calls for community assistance following the alleged assault of a-year-old boy in Roxburgh Park in December.

Investigators have been told the boy was at a cricket ground on James Miram Drive with friends about 2pm on Sunday, December 12, when he was approached by a group of males.

It is believed at least two of the group assaulted the boy, who was left unconscious after being hit with a baseball bat.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment with a laceration to his head.

Investigators have made a number of inquiries in relation to the alleged incident and are releasing CCTV footage and an image of five people they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone who recognises any of the males or with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
