Aitken Hill Primary School principal named

A principal has been appointed to Craigieburn’s newest school – Aitken Hill Primary School.

Former Killara Primary School principal Peter Hansen has swapped the Sunbury school for Aitken Hill, which is due to open next year.

Before joining Killara Primary School –where he was assistant principal for three years – Mr Hansen was the literacy coach at Mackellar Primary School in Delahey, helping teachers boost their literacy teaching.

Mr Hansen’s appointment comes as the state government confirmed the new school would continue to be known as Aitken Hill – its provisional name for the planning process.

Mr Hansen said over the next six months he will work with the community, students and parents to create a school that embodies excellence and opportunity for students.

He will also begin appointing teachers and will work closely with architects and builders to ensure the school is built to the highest standard.

Yuroke MP Ros Spence said Aitken Hill Primary School, on Elevation Boulevard, would cater for 475 students from prep to year 6, and would feature state-of-the-art physical education and performing arts facilities.

“Peter Hansen is an experienced school leader with a reputation for instilling a culture of excellence. I know we’ll see Aitken Hill Primary School get off to a great start in 2019,” she said.
