Advice for residents’ water bills

With many Hume and Whittlesea residents feeling the pinch due to soaring interest rates and the rising cost of living, Yarra Valley Water is popping up at Pacific Epping to inform residents of its financial support program.

The stalls will appear at Pacific Epping between February 21 – 25.

Customer service representatives are able to help locals with concession rates, payment plans, and other ways to save money. Interpreters are available to support customers who speak a language other than English at home.

Kareen Watfa attended the pop up hub in Broadmeadows on Wednesday, 8 February.

“It’s great because we ended up getting the utility relief grant and that really helps a lot,” she said.

“I didn’t know about these grants until today.

“It’s so much easier that the team is here in the shopping centre, rather than having to call them and I would highly recommend for people to go see them.”

Yarra Valley Water managing director Pat McCafferty said eligible customers could claim a concession, apply for a Utility Relief Grant, or switch to flexible payment options as part of the program, however many customers are unaware of the support options available to them.

“With the rising cost of living, it’s more important than ever to ensure our customers know we’re here to help if they’re struggling to pay their bills,” he said.

“Our WaterCare financial support program is available year-round, but we know that this time of year can be particularly difficult.

“We hope that by getting out in the community and engaging with people face-to-face, we’ll be able to help customers find what they need and support more households.”
