Start spreading the news – a Sunbury student is heading to New York City.
Salesian College year 11 student Alexandra De Bono will spend two weeks in the city that never sleeps for an internship at The New York Times.
Ms De Bono, 16, said she was elated about the opportunity.
“I worked really closely with all my trusted teachers and I’ve never really cared about anything more than getting in,” she said.
“It is something that I am so passionate about.”
The budding writer said she was looking forward to making connections during the internship and learning from well-known authors.
“It’s a really reputable newspaper,” she said. “We get lectures from The New York Times’ bestselling authors, reputable professors and we also get to go on little excursions around New York.”
She has her sights set on becoming an editor one day.
Ms De Bono will set off to New York City on June 9.
