Northern suburbs residents are being encouraged to roll up their sleeves and get a free flu shot from Northern Health.
In a bid to reduce the number of flu cases in the Whittlesea and Hume communities this year, Northern Health is offering free flu vaccinations for its staff, volunteers, patients and visitors.
Northern Health general manager Jodi Ashworth said Victoria experienced an unusually long and serious flu season last year.
More than 600 Whittlesea and Hume residents were diagnosed with the flu last winter.
Ms Ashworth said flu vaccinations were important for the overall health of the community.
“We are putting the health of our community first by ensuring our staff are vaccinated and extending the free vaccinations to all inpatients, emergency department attendances, outpatient appointments, and the families of our patients, staff and volunteers,” she said.
“Pop-up clinics and vaccination booths will operate in Northern Health public areas at our Epping, Craigieburn, Bundoora and Broadmeadows campuses.
“Everyone has a responsibility to protect themselves, their families and the community and at Northern Health we are role modelling our commitment to ensuring our community stay well.”
Flu vaccinations will be available daily until 8pm.
A medicare card will be required for visitors to validate registration for a free vaccine.
