Broadmeadows: Man charged over assault on pregnant driver, police officer

UPDATE: A man has been charged with 28 offences following an attack on a pregnant woman and a police officer on Tuesday evening.

The 37-year-old Tullamarine man is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, charged with reckless conduct endangering persons, intentionally causing injury and other assault and traffic-related offences.

On Tuesday evening, a pregnant woman was punched in the stomach and face, and a police officer suffered facial injuries during an altercation allegedly stemming from a minor car crash in Broadmeadows about 10.30pm. 

The 26-year-old pregnant driver was taken to The Royal Melbourne Hospital, while the injured police officer was taken to Epworth Hospital with minor injuries.

The Tullamarine man was transferred to the Northern Hospital with minor injuries.
