Up to five gunshots woke the residents of a street in Glenroy in the second shooting to occur in the city on Wednesday.
Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in Glenroy, where shots were fired into a car parked in a driveway of a Melbourne Avenue home at 1.40am.
It comes as police hunt for a second gunman who shot a woman in a factory in Sunshine West about three hours later. Police said the shootings are not related.
Moreland Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Bryan Strangman said a man in his 40s was woken to the sound of gunfire.
He said the resident and neighbours heard four or five shots, followed by a car driving west on Melbourne Avenue.
Police found evidence of two bullet holes in the silver ute parked in the driveway of the home.
Senior Detective Strangman said the victim was lucky to escape uninjured, has “co-operated fully” and does not know why he would be targeted. He was the only one inside the house at the time.
Investigators are now searching for any security footage from the street and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
