Drugs and an illegal immigrant were detected during an automatic number plate recognition operation in Westmeadows last Thursday.
Nineteen police officers and more than 20 sheriff’s officers were at Willowbrook Reserve in Mickleham Road between 7am and 5pm as part of an ongoing operation targeting unlicensed or disqualified drivers, outstanding warrants and fines, and other crimes.
“This is our way of holding the public to account,” Fawkner highway patrol’s Sergeant James Bowen said.
Police caught an illegal immigrant from Vietnam, two motorists possessing a drug of dependence and 11 suspended, disqualified or unlicensed drivers. They also detected 15 unregistered vehicles.
