A truck driver had a lucky escape when his truck caught fire on Sunday night in Fawkner.
Emergency services were called when a fire started at the rear of the B-Double truck’s cab just after 7pm.
Two MFB trucks attended the incident.
The male truck driver exited the vehicle and escaped without injury.
Drivers on the Western Ring Road faced delays while the fire was extinguished and the truck taken off the road.
Witness Sunil Bassi said the fire appeared to be coming from inside the cabin and produced a lot of smoke.
“It was an internal problem,” he said. “The fire was down under the passenger seat. There was so much smoke and fire.”
It is yet to be determined how the fire was started.
