A special fenced-off area for dogs is part of a broader plan for Sunbury Park being developed by Hume council.
The park has been an off-leash area since 2009.
Last year, the council allocated $150,000 from its capital works budget to develop a fenced dog park.
Residents were asked for their feedback in September last year.
Following strong local support, the council has released a final concept plan of the proposed dog park area for further discussion.
A report to last week’s council meeting said there had been mixed feedback about the park’s location.
In response to community input, it was decided to create the park on the northern side of Harker Street, across the road from the main park area.
The report said the Sunbury and District Dog Obedience Club had suggested that fencing of the dog park be kept to a minimum and be concealed by planting.
Features of the dog park will include rock scramble areas, sensory vegetation, and play equipment, including jumps and logs.
The plan will be on exhibition from June 16 to July 14.
