Scholarships, grants among Hume arts awards

Hume’s creative artists can apply for the council’s 2014 arts awards.

Winners across categories including emerging and established visual and performing artists and a youth award will share $20,000 this year, including scholarships valued at $3000 and professional development grants of up to $500.

Nominations are open until May 1. The awards money will support costs involved in arts practice, including further study, training, materials and equipment, professional memberships and travel.

Sunbury artist Jacquie Blight, a previous winner, won a professional development grant and an encouragement award through the Hume arts program in recognition of her talent.

Any Hume artist can apply for the awards, whatever medium they work in.
