Hume and Whittlesea residents can recycle their old analogue TV sets without cost – and without dumping them on naturestrips.
With the switch to digital-only TV transmission as of December 10 last year, councils are receiving increasing numbers of complaints about dumped TVs.
Hume mayor Casey Nunn warned residents they could be fined if caught dumping and urged people to take their unwanted TVs to one of Hume council’s resource recovery centres at Bolinda Road, Campbellfield, or Riddell Road, Sunbury, for free disposal from 8am-4pm daily.

Whittlesea residents can access free disposal at transfer stations at Wollert Landfill, 45 Bridge Inn Road, Wollert; Darebin Resource Recovery Centre at Kurnai Avenue, Reservoir; Banyule Waste Recovery centre at 307-325 Waterdale Road, Bellfield, or Surplus Recycling Solutions, 304-308 Mahoneys Road, Thomastown.
As of this year, TVs, computers and computer equipment will no longer be collected as part of Whittlesea’s hard waste collection.
