A farmers’ market is on the cards for Whittlesea.

A council survey exploring the idea has attracted widespread support, with a post about the survey on the council’s Facebook page receiving almost 800 likes and 200 comments and being shared more than 100 times.

The survey is being carried out by research consultant and Eltham Farmers’ Market operator Chris Chapple.

He described the response to the survey as “astounding”.

Yan Yean berry farmer Hans Hoffmann is among those backing the market.

Mr Hoffmann, who has been selling produce from his Just Picked Berries and Fruit farm at the Eltham market for about three years, said farmers’ markets were helpful in establishing a reputation and attracting buyers.
