Outdoor movie

Make your way to Merrifield’s neighbourhood park, 8 Hawksburn Place, Mickleham, on Saturday, February 4, for a free outdoor screening of Zootopia. The movie is part of Hume council’s summer events program. There will be entertainment from 6pm, with the movie screening from 7pm. BYO rug or chair.

Organic gardening

Pick up tips on growing organic fruit and vegetables from gardening expert Vasili at The Age Library, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows, on Thursday, February 2, from 6-7.25pm. Vasili will talk about how to fight pests and diseases in the garden using homemade recipes.

Become a mentor

Find out about becoming a mentor for a young person in need of extra support at TRY Mentoring’s information night on Wednesday, February 8, at Creeds Farm and Living Centre, 2 Snugburgh Way, Epping North, from 7pm. Mentors will be asked to spend one to three hours a week for 12 months to help make a difference in their young people’s lives.
